Does anyone have any suggestions for getting permanent markers off a whiteboard? Although I really do like the stick figure drawings that my grand kids did, I would also like to be able to use the whiteboard again!

Simply draw over the permanent marker with a water- based marker – a tip I picked up when colleagues accidentally picked up a permanent marker during meetings.

To get permanent marker off a whiteboard is really easy. Just go over the markings with a whiteboard pen, and then rub them off! – Liz, Kapiti

In answer to the person asking how to remove permanent marker off her white board, try to go over it with a dry erase marker. It works when fresh, but I am not sure if the old stuff will come off. Otherwise try spirits? – Heidi, Masterton.
I read the question about how to remove permanent marker drawings on a whiteboard. The answer is simply to go over them with whiteboard marker pen and rub off with a tissue. This will remove the permanent marks! – Chris B, Hibiscus Coast.
My suggestion is to trace over the permanent marker with a proper whiteboard marker and this should remove the permanent marker from the whiteboard. I have done it and it works, although the permanent marker had not been on the whiteboard for very long. -MDBB, Auckland.

A great solution for this is to use a whiteboard marker if you have one, and write over the top of the existing marks – when you wipe it off the permanent marker should come off as well. Or, use methylated spirits or alcohol hand sanitiser, these both work. – Cheers Linda, Wellington.
